Acura recently announced that production of the brand new MDX Type S has begun at its plant in East Liberty, Ohio.
Type S will sit at the top of the MDX range and is advertised as a super-performance version.
The Japanese manufacturer has announced that this new model with a halo will be available in the dealerships in the near future.
It’s Acura’s strongest SUV to date, and comes with an affordable price tag.


It’s being built specifically for the U.S market at Acura’s local assembly plant.
“The associates at the East Liberty Auto Plant did a great job on the flagship MDX earlier this year, and it is a testament to their challenging spirit that they have created Acura’s first performance SUV model, the MDX Type S,” stated East Liberty Auto Plant General Manager Jun Jayaraman.


“Our team went above and beyond in manufacturing an SUV that is worthy of wearing the Type S badge, and we are very proud of the result.”
Acura MDX Specifications
MDX Type S is powered by a turbocharged engine that generates 355 horsepower. The engine is constructed in the same location at Acura’s engine plant located in Anna, Ohio.


Actually all of the Type S was designed and developed by Acura’s development center in Acura’s development center in the US at Acura’s research and development centre.
To manage the power, all Type S models come standard with an air suspension adaptive with a variety of options for driving, Brembo front brakes and big 21-inch wheels that have high-performance tires.


It’s the model with the halo within the MDX range, it is fully loaded with luxury features such as nine-way massage front seats, as well as a brand newly designed twenty-speaker ELS Studio 3D Signature Edition audio system.
The MDX Type S is the second Type S model to arrive in the US in addition to the well-known NSX Type S. An upgraded model of the NSX that boasts 600 horsepower is expected to come as the third.
According to Acura the MDX Type S is entering the new era of Type S models.


In the spring of this season, Acura launched earlier this year, Acura introduced the TLX Type S, but the one we’re anticipating is the brand-new Integra Type S, which is likely to be the fourth version released in the current Type S era.
