Mercedes-Benz Will Start The Reveal Its Most Efficient Vehicle In 2022

The Vision EQXX is expected to be revealed at the beginning of the year.

If you are aware of concepts that are characterized by the name “Vision” you can be sure that it is likely to be quite radical.

The Mini Vision Urbanaut is an excellent interpretation of this, offering a different vision of living space inside the car.

Then there’s BMW’s i Vision Circular Concept which aims to show mobility into 2040.

Mercedes-Benz has demonstrated its own visionary concepts in the past, including it’s Vision Concept AVTR in the previous year.

As you may know, we have been working on translating our strategic ambition to “Lead in Electric Drive” into a car for some time: Now, the VISION #EQXX is set to become the most efficient electric vehicle we have ever built – with a real-world range of more than 1,000 km. And I’m extremely happy that it will be unveiled to the public very soon – on January 3, 2022.

Today, we at #MercedesBenz – as well as the entire automotive industry – must completely reimagine the car in the context of electromobility. The automobile as we have come to know it till now has been the product of 130 years of continuous development. What we have achieved so far has been amazing, but progress with electric cars must move faster – much faster.

That’s why we have set a more than ambitious goal for ourselves with the VISION EQXX: We want to develop a compact-class electric vehicle that can drive 1,000 km at a stretch on one battery charge under real road conditions, with a single-digit consumption value for kilowatt hours per 100 kilometres at normal highway speeds.

How will we do it, you may ask? Our VISION EQXX is more than a show car, it is an interdisciplinary technology programme – we are scrutinizing every efficiency building block and not just focusing on individual elements.

Our project team is deliberately interdisciplinary, filled with experts in their respective fields. In the EQXX, energy efficiency, vehicle concept development, eDrive system integration, Software and design are working hand in hand. And Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains is also on board. Support from our F1 specialists is very valuable and makes us even stronger – especially when it comes to electric drive technologies.

There are still a few weeks until the world premiere, so I don’t want to reveal too much. But I can tell you this: In addition to consumption and range, we also want to score further points in terms of aerodynamics. This project is aiming to go exceed what we have already achieved with the #EQS – which boasts the lowest drag coefficient ever seen in a production vehicle. Moreover, we are also working on increasing the energy density at the cell level by a further 20% compared to the EQS.

So mark January 3, 2022 – the date of our VISION EQXX world premiere. You won’t want to miss it. Believe me!

The German automaker is following with stunning production vehicles like Mercedes-Benz ECS with a brand-new concept known as Vision EQXX.

As per the information from an interesting LinkedIn article, the Vision EQXX will be unveiled in the beginning of next year.

The article comes from Markus Schafer, member of the board of directors at Mercedes-Benz. In the post, Schafer explains that the Vision EQXX is set to become the most efficient car ever Merc has ever built in its quest to “Lead in Electric Drive.”

Mercedes has teased the Vision EQXX before, but we were not given a specific range estimation. We were told that the vehicle could drive through Nice up to Stuttgart. But, the post above informs us that we could anticipate “a real-world range of more than 1,000 km,” which is 621 miles in the money.

To get this accomplished, various departments within the business will work together.

Schafer states that Mercedes is calling the program as an “interdisciplinary technology program,” that includes specialists on “energy efficiency, vehicle concept development, eDrive system integration, software, and design working hand in hand.”

The boffins from AMG will also provide input. Schafer promises outstanding aerodynamic properties as well as a higher energy density up to 20% more than the battery packs you find with the EQS.

More details will be revealed later in the year, when the new Mercedes-Benz Vision concept will be revealed in a world premiere on January 3rd 2022.
